This
could involve working with one of the Citizens Advice Bureaux in
Wirral, giving information to the public on benefits, employment
issues, housing, etc. CAB work involves 4-6 months
training and a minimum of six hours per week commitment.
If you are not able to offer such a commitment, there are also
opportunities for advice work in other settings, for example,
working at community drop-in centres, women's centres, with the
elderly or at hospital information points.
Advocacy
involved acting on behalf of someone who has difficulty
expressing their needs or getting their views heard. You
may be involved in writing letters or making phone calls to
clients or accompanying them to meetings, tribunals, etc.
Following training, there are opportunities for volunteers to
work with children, older people, people with disabilities or
mental health difficulties.
